PROGRAM # 7984 12:00 PM PT

Mexico Edition.

In response to the announcement that the construction of the wall between Mexico and the United States will proceed, and the imminent deportation of immigrants, President Peña Nieto cancels his meeting with US President Trump. On the other hand, civil organizations warn of the disaster that the mass deportation of migrants will bring about, since these immigrants would not only fail to contribute remittances to their communities, but would return to an impoverished country with high levels of violence. Against this backdrop, farmer organizations propose to exclude the agricultural chapter of the Free Trade Agreement and they call on the Mexican government to support domestic production. In addition, in this edition, an activist reports that the government of Baja California continues the construction of two desalination plants and a water pipeline. They argue that these works will contaminate the air and soil of the Mexicali valley and will limit the quotas of water to the farmers. Martha Elena Ramírez, hosts this broadcast of the program Voz Pública, from Mexico City.
