PROGRAM # 7935 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
The Mexican administration, headed by president Enrique Peña Nieto, is cutting the budget that covers the needs of indigenous peoples. The measure will leave several communities in Guerrero, Chiapas and Michoacán without resources, and this may bring a halt in the constructions of rural roads, sections of the water system, and building of the electrical grid. Health and educational centers confront the same fate. Given this scenario, the remittances sent by migrants will continue to be the only way out to cover the needs of these rural families. Also in this edition, listeners from the United States call and express their thoughts about how Latinos should be prepared in case of deportation. Martha Elena Ramírez, conducts this broadcast of the program Voz Pública, from Mexico City.
Guests: (recordings) Marcos Matías, Guerrero; Pánfilo Sánchez Almazán, high mountain of Temalacatzingo. a Nahua región of Guerrero; Abundio Marcos Prado, Indigenous Movement of Michoacán; Carmen Osorio, National Political Assembly of Indigenous Women and Carlos de Jesús Alejandro, National Indigenous Assembly.
