Mexico Edition.

Injured protesters, along with other residents of Nochixtlán, Oaxaca, are demanding the creation of an international prosecutor’s authority to investigate the actions of the police forces that cleared a road blocked by demonstrators. At this site, they killed eight civilians and left more than 200 people wounded. Although the government claims that it has paid for the medical expenses and other losses of 85 wounded people, the convalescents affirm that they still have not received the specialized care they need. Meanwhile, the Autonomous University of Morelos State reported that among the 117 bodies exhumed from the clandestine mass graves of Tetelcingo, several were identified as people sought by their relatives, including the bodies of three girls, whose deaths were never investigated and despite de fact that one of them seems to have been a victim of human trafficking. Martha Elena Ramirez hosts this edition of Voz Pública from Mexico City.

Guests: (audio recordings) Miguel Cortés and Juana Ramón Solís, members of the Committee of Victims of Nochixtlán; “Luisa,” a Federal Police agent; Senator Fidel Demédicis Hidalgo, Party of the Democratic Revolution; Javier Sicilia, leader of the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity; Roberto Villanueva, a member of Victim Assistance Program of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos.
