FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 19.
PROGRAM # 7722 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
The visit of Pope Francis to Mexico ended without the parents of the 43 missing students from Ayotzinapa meeting with him. Armoured by television networks and the governmental structure that organized his tours through Chiapas, Michoacán, México and Chihuahua, the Pope spoke about the riches of the indigenous peoples, condemned migration because of poverty, and called on young people not to give their life to drug trafficking. However, his speeches did not meet the high expectations of several civil organizations. Also in this edition, we report on how to apply for a voter I.D. in Mexican consulates, now that elections are coming in three states that for the first time will allow voting by residents living outside the country. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts Voz Pública from Mexico City.
Guests: José Guadalupe Sánchez, theologist and Executive Secretary of Secretariado Social Mexicano, Mexico City; Enrique Andrade González, Councilman, Instituto Nacional Electoral, Mexico City.
