FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2.
PROGRAM # 7622 12:00 PM PT
Mexico Edition.
Women who participated in armed movements of the 1970s say on the anniversary of the atrocious 1968 massacre of Mexican students, the Mexican government today continues to treat participants in social movements with a hard hand, preferring to respond with violence instead of responding to demands. They point to a black list of more than 26,000 disappeared people, the 43 students from Ayotzinapa, political prisoners and activists killed, and the students of 1968, for which no public official has been punished. And they state that today, as back then, the government is closing its doors to political negotiation. Martha Elena Ramírez hosts Voz Pública from Mexico City.
Guests: (pretaped interviews) Alma Gómez Caballero, Movimiento de Acción Libertaria, Chihuahua, Chihuahua; María de Lourdes Rodríguez Rosas, Asociación Cívica Nacional, Guerrero; (sound cuts) Vidulfo Rosales Sierra, attorney, Centro de Derechos Humanos de la Montaña Tlachinollan; Parents of the 43 missing students: Melitón Ortega, Carmen Mendoza, Mario César González, Emiliano Navarrete; Sra. Cristina, Mexico City.
