Eight Mexican citizens are being prosecuted in a Chicago court for trafficking heroin from Iguala, Guerrero to the United States in passenger buses. According to an investigation by Mexican journalist José Reveles, the persecution and shooting of Ayotzinapa teacher’s college students occurred because one of the buses they took was carrying drugs. Before the publication of his book titled “Échale la Culpa a la Heroína” (“Blame Heroin”), Reveles says there are no drug traffickers that don’t have government protection, and he offers a reconstruction of the occurrences on September 26th and 27th, as well as data that show Iguala is home to the largest poppy fields in Latin America.
