Latinos Receive Nation’s Highest Civilian Honor.

President Biden is awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, to Raúl Yzaguirre, Julieta García, and others. Civil rights advocate Yzaguirre led for 30 years the National Council of la Raza, now known as UnidosUS, and Julieta García, who, as the former president of the University of Texas at Brownsville, became the first Latina woman to serve as a college president.

Supreme Court Ties EPA’s Hands on Pollution. The US Supreme Court decided to curb the EPA’s ability to regulate power plants. The court invoked a legal doctrine which states that regulations of high national significance need to be authorized by Congress. What could be the impact on pollution, public health and climate change? Is the court getting ready to bring down regulations on Covid and consumer protections?
