Extra Edition: Drought and Wildfires.

California is now in its second year of a drought, and most of the West is under a mega-drought, and both are bracing for another devastating wildfire season. Gov. Newsom declared a drought emergency in two counties, as many expect the order to expand statewide soon. A water rights advocate talks about the foreseeable impact of the drought among low-income, rural communities. How to prepare for the dry conditions and the water shortage? How to better manage the water? And as the wildfire season is already under way in California, what can the state and homeowners do to prepare for the fires?

Guests: Susana de Anda, Co-Founder and Executive Director, The Community Water Center, Visalia, CA; Israel Pinzón, Spokesperson, CalFire, San Diego, CA; Adriana Renteria, Director, Office of Public Participation, State Water Resources Control Board, Sacramento, CA.
