Extra Edition: Flooding Disaster Continues.
Thousands of residents in California’s Pajaro Valley were displaced by the floodwaters. Gov. Newsom requested a new declaration of Major Disaster from President Biden to improve emergency response and recovery in Monterey, Tulare, Kern and other counties hit by the storms. This is a report on disaster relief and recovery efforts in areas hit by the floods. This program includes a conversation with California Sen. Alex Padilla about his calls to the federal government to change the cost-benefit formula that guides investments in infrastructure that could be life-saving for low-income communities such as Pajaro Valley’s.
