PROGRAM #9016 11:00 AM PT
Wildfires Displacement.
Wildfires in the West are causing massive destruction of forests and communities and toxic pollution by the smoke. Also, tens of thousands of people in Oregon and California have been displaced. Farmworker communities are being hit by displacement and toxic air pollution, and many have no access to emergency aid. In their quest to recover, they face a number of challenges, including the loss of jobs, the fear to ICE operations, and the fear to armed right-wing vigilantes who are setting up checkpoints in Oregon’s rural roads.
Guests: Gervacio Peña López, Executive Director, Movimiento Cultural Union Indigena, Collaborator with Graton Day Labor Center, Vineburg, CA; Precila Rodriguez, Victim of Wildfire Displacement, Oregon; Arturo Sarmiento, Station Manager, KTUP-Radio Poder, Salem, OR
