Orphan and Exile Children.

Tuesday_673x324TUESDAY, JULY 21.
PROGRAM # 7569 12:00 PM PT

Orphan and Exile Children.

Children in mixed-status families live under the constant threat that their parents will suddenly be deported. Under the current immigration system, they often end up living in silence and secrecy, suffering severe psychological traumas from the devastating loss of a parent or a home, as children exiles or orphans. These are the findings of a renowned mental health expert as told in his book “Forgotten Citizens: Deportation, Children, and the Making of American Exiles and Orphans”.

Guest: Dr. Luis H. Zayas, Dean at the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work; Author of Forgotten Citizens: Deportation, Children, and the Making of American Exiles and Orphans, Austin, TX.
