A former Border Patrol agent, grandson of a Mexican immigrant, shares his memories during his years in the Patrol, tracking and detaining migrants, and rescuing survivors in remote areas of the desert. Joining the agency to get to know the reality at the borderlands, the writer says he left it after being haunted by nightmares of violence and dehumanization.
