PROGRAM # 9284 12:00 PM PDT

Immigrant Families in the California Budget.

Policy makers are working against the clock to finalize California’s state budget amid a historic windfall. Many see this as an opportunity for California to make good to those essential workers who, while contributing to the state’s fast recovery, are among the hardest hit by the pandemic and the last to get any federal relief. Advocates call for expanded aid to immigrant families, including food assistance, health care and unemployment benefits. How can California design a more equitable budget plan? In this roundtable, policy makers and advocates examine existing plans.

Guest: California State Assemblymember, Joaquín Arámbula, D-Fresno, Sacramento, CA; Others TBA.
