TUESDAY, AUGUST 29
PROGRAM # 8142 12:00 PM PST.
Immigration Edition.
As time runs out on a crucial deadline next week, there are growing fears the Trump administration may end DACA, while calls to continue the popular program grow in intensity. In Chicago, a mother of five US citizen children who chose to seek refuge in a sanctuary church instead of turning herself in for deportation speaks from inside her sanctuary. On other news, Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner signed yesterday the Illinois Trust Act, which prevents state’s law enforcement agencies from becoming immigration agents, and a major voting reform allowing automatic voter registration. And in Fresno, California, the city agreed to dismiss the charges against four activists who months ago protested collaboration between local police and federal deportation agents.
