The US and Canada have agreed to divert asylum seekers from their borders. Under the deal, Canada will turn back immigrants seeking asylum in Canada from New York. Canada has also agreed to provide new, legal refugee protections for migrants who are fleeing from South and Central America. Meantime, the Biden administration is proposing a new asylum ban that would disqualify most applicants. What consequences are expected? This program includes a report on measures by Mexican officials to deter migrant parents from crossing the border accompanied with their children.
