The day after Tax Day, a community organizer reflects on the billions of dollars undocumented workers contribute to the public treasure and how three out of four undocumented workers are considered essential in pandemic times and still, they continue being excluded from public benefits, including health care and tax credits. He also comments on the fight for a new, largely Latino, congressional district in Oregon. On other news, Texas’ truck inspections that created a traffic jam at the Mexican border and the buses with migrants that are being sent by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott to Washington are seen as electoral trickery and an effort to position the pro-Trump sector for a new campaign. In other news, a bipartisan group of senators are renewing conversations on immigration reform, including visas for farmworkers. Finally, this program includes segments of interviews from our historic archives with Mexican human rights pioneer Rosario Ibarra de Piedra, the champion of the disappeared, who passed away this weekend.
