PROGRAM # 9583 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
Under pressure from immigrant advocates, the Biden administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are expected to make a decision about the controversial Title 42 policy, which excludes asylum-seeking migrants from asking for asylum because of COVID19. The announcement has received attacks from Texas and Republican opponents who call for continuing the Trump-era policy. In this program, an immigration lawyer provides advice to potential applicants on how to prepare to benefit from this federal action. Advocates point to the expedited processing for Ukrainian refugees and call for a similar treatment for all other political asylum applicants.
Guests: Alma Rosa Nieto, Immigration Attorney, American Immigration Lawyers Association – AILA, Los Angeles, CA; Felipe Navarro Lux, Manager of Regional Initiatives, Center for Gender & Refugee Studies, UC Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, CA; Claudia Tristan, Immigration Campaign Director, MomsRising, Washington, DC
