TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8
PROGRAM # 9527 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
One year after President Biden released executive orders to “restore the trust in our legal immigration system,” a legal analyst discusses actions taken by the administration to remove barriers to immigration benefits and improve the naturalization process. She also comments on the call a group of young social media influencers are making to declare February 14 a “Day Without Immigrants,” and show some love for the milllions of undocumented immigrants by pledging “no work, no school, no spending” until politicians move forward on immigration reform. In other news: citing the findings of “Operation Blooming Onion” on human trafficking and slavery of Mexican and Central American workers in the fields of Georgia, farm labor leaders are calling the Biden administration to investigate, audit and overhaul the H2A agricultural guest worker program. A farm worker union leader who manages guest worker contracts with Mexico examines the H2A visa program.
Guests: Attorney Rosalba Piña, Immigration Law Expert, Chicago, IL; Baldemar Velasquez, President and Founder, Farm Labor Organizing Committee – FLOC, Toledo, OH.
