As Democrats work on a Plan C proposal to get the OK of the Senate parliamentarian for protections from deportation and work permits for immigrants, a House Committee approved a plan for permanent residency for millions as part of the Build Back Better package. In another news, in a major shift, the Biden administration issued new guidance barring immigration agents to arrest or search people in or near protected areas, such as schools, hospitals, parks, parades, demonstrations, temples and funerals.
