Immigration Edition.
Today, grassroots groups from around the South are kicking off a Selma-to-Montgomery style march from Georgetown to Austin, Texas’ capital. Religious and moral leaders march in support of voting rights, a $15 minimum wage, end to the filibuster and immigration reform. On another topic: clergy and immigrants from across the country convene on Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and urge them to use the infrastructure bill and budget reconciliation to include a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants. Also, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimonies on citizenship for farm workers.
