Immigration Edition.

Tuesday_673x324 12TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16
PROGRAM # 9169 12:00 PM PST

Immigration Edition.

After President Biden ordered a deportation moratorium, ICE continued abusing and deporting migrants, according to advocates. Are these acts of defiance by “rogue agents”? What’s the role of the Border Patrol union? How to eradicate the culture of racism within the agency? Also, in Colorado, stating that immigrant families at risk of the pandemic distrust local government agencies, legislators are introducing a bill seeking to limit the personal identifying information that can be shared with ICE and federal agencies. Finally, the Biden administration gave the first steps to wind down the “Remain in Mexico” policy and will start processing people who have already been enrolled in the program. An advocate applauds the new action while asking to expand it to those who were not able to attend court hearings or are under appeal and urging the Biden administration to end the practice of expeling migrants without due process using Title 42, a public health emergency measure introduced by Trump. He also comments on the naming of Sen. Alex Padilla to the Senate’s Subcommittee on Immigration.
