A new immigration plan, as part of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill, includes granting undocumented essential workers a green card and reduce the wait time for citizenship. A leading farmworker advocate discusses the plan. Also, as President Biden ordered the end of the use of private prisons to incarcerate federal prisoners, immigrant rights advocates urge Biden to end federal contracts for detaining immigrants. Finally, a federal lawmaker talks about the National Office of the New Americans Act, a measure that would create a national office within the White House to help facilitate the integration of immigrants into US society.
