PROGRAM # 8686 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
Tens of thousands of guests of the hotel chain Motel 6 whose information wash shared with ICE can now receive compensation. On other news, local governments in California claim in a lawsuit against the Trump administration that the “public charge” rule is already causing a drop-off in the health and social services they provide because of fear among immigrants to the rule. This program also includes news about the growing toll of Hurricane Dorian’s devastation in Bahamas and the killing of seven people, including five Latinos, in a mass shooting in Odessa and Midland, Texas. It also includes the findings of a study, showing that Texas immigrants, documented or not, are much less likely to be convicted of crimes than native US citizens. Two other news stories report that, in order to carry out his deportation plans, President Trump is syphoning funds away from national security programs, including funds allocated to deal with domestic terrorism and FEMA funds to provide disaster assistance
