Immigration Edition.

Tuesday_673x324TUESDAY, JUNE 18
PROGRAM # 8631 12:00 PM PT

Immigration Edition.

A group of Democratic members of the US House introduced the No Federal Funds for Public Charge Act, a bill that would prohibit the use of federal funds to carry out Trump’s proposed “public charge” rule. On other news, a new report explains how the Attorney General has created immigration courts that are not neutral arbiters, but plagued with bias and driven by political whims; and to fight these unfair court practices, a group is launching an Immigration Court Watch App to record and upload information on immigration judge conduct. Finally, community groups in border cities are stepping in to provide shelter to hundreds of migrant families being dropped off by the Border Patrol.

Guests: Ariel Prado, Program Manager-Centers of Excellence East, Innovation Law Lab, Atlanta, GA; Alvaro Huerta, Staff Attorney, National Immigration Law Center-NILC; Los Angeles, CA; Fernando Garcia, Executive Director, Border Network for Human Rights, El Paso, TX.
