On the day of the State of the Union speech, this program airs a report on the status of the wall negotiations in Congress, on Trump’s expected remarks about his fight with Democrats over the wall, his threats of another government shutdown or get national emergency powers, and about the separated families, Dreamers, and former undocumented employees of Trump’s business who have been invited by Democrats to attend tonight’s session. Also a journalist comments on the Trump administration”exportation” to Mexico of the first steps in the asylum process and the subsequent proliferation of bribes against migrants on the international bridges. And a young muralist master talks about her mural titled “We Carry the Dreams,” a portrait of Dreamer immigrants, painted in downtown Atlanta ahead of Super Bowl LIII. Finally, Gov. Pritzker signs order supporting welcoming centers and immigrant rights in Illinois, and Gov. Newsom declares California a “state of refuge” and gives support for a Rapid Response program for asylum seekers and refugees.
