TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4
PROGRAM # 8491 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
Advocates keep an eye on what immigration bills Republicans may pass on their way out. Others debate on what to expect about the new, Democrat-led Congress on immigration oversight and legislation. And, as required by a new law, county governments in California continue holding “Truth Forums” to give local communities an account into the extent of collaboration with ICE. Kern is next, in a few days. On other news, an activist immigrant tells the meeting of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights about acts of retaliation by ICE against her because of her advocacy work. And immigrant-rights groups redouble effort to encourage the public to submit comments in the last days for the federal government to hear about proposed new rules on “public charge.”
Guests: Maru Mora Villalpando, Leader, Northwest Detention Center Resistance, Director, Latino Advocacy, Seattle, WA; Maricela Gutiérrez, directora ejecutiva, Services, Immigrant Rights & Education Network (SIREN), San Jose, CA; Rosalba Piña, Attorney, Immigration Law, Chicago, IL.
