TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13
PROGRAM # 8476 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
As a migrant caravan heads north through Mexico, President Trump is declaring an emergency at the border and is barring asylum for immigrants who do not cross the border through an official point of entry. Meantime, immigration attorneys from Los Angeles travel to Mexico City to meet with migrants who are fleeing from Central America. And following the elections, that brought an unusually high Latino turnout, advocates from key states meet to discuss the meaning of the renewed support by voters to local pro-immigrant politicians and plans, and the commitments to work on halting collaboration with ICE and pushing for driver’s licenses for immigrants. They also comment on a new campaign, Not One More Dollar, for detention and deportation plans.
Guests: Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director, Voces de la Frontera, Milwaukee, WI; Oscar Chacón, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Alianza Americas, Chicago, IL; Cinthia Flores, Attorney, CHIRLA, Los Angeles, CA.
