PROGRAM # 8442 12:00 PM PT
Immigration Edition.
A distinguished journalist and writer comments on the role journalists should play when covering immigration – stories should be treated in a humane way, with verifiable data and clarifying polarizing situations. She also gives her views on the findings of the DHS Inspector General, revealing that there is a policy to separate families at the border and it was poorly planned. She also comments on a report by Amnesty International, concluding that the Trump administration has separated more families than revealed. On another topic, an expert talks about the decision by a federal judge to block the Trump administration from ending TPS, the program that protects hundreds of thousands of Salvadorans, Nicaraguans, Haitians and Sudanese from deportation, and about the plans to limit legal immigration by expanding the definition of public charge. And a former immigration judge shares his views on Trump’s attacks against immigration courts and the growing frustration among federal judges due to the administration’s order to meet certain quotas. These and other developments are discussed in this edition.
