Arrested While Checking In.
In a move that heightens fears and worries advocates, ICE agents have arrested immigrants applying for green cards when they show up for routine interviews. Others who have complied showing up for voluntary check-in with ICE have also been arrested. Under Trump’s executive orders, people who were not prioritized for deportation in the previous administration, are now ICE targets. Meantime, DHS is ramping up plans to hire hundreds of new Border Patrol agents and get thousands of new detention beds.
