First Open Jan 6 Hearing.
The House committee investigating the Jan 6 insurrection is holding its first public hearing tonight. Guests: José López Zamorano, Political Reporter, Washington, DC.
Uvalde and 20 More Mass Shootings. Following the recent massacres in Uvalde and other cities, President Biden delivered an address urging Congress for tighter gun laws. The House plans to vote this week on a ban on military-style assault weapons, while the Senate is only talking about background checks. Will gridlock be finally broken? Analysts also comment on the heavy toll the school shootings are having on teachers in Texas, who were already dealing with Covid-19 surges, staff shortages, book bans, and other crises, and Texas’ poor record in providing access to mental care and health insurance.
