PROGRAM # 9363 12:00 PM PDT

Students Mired in Loan Debt.

The U.S. Department of Education will cancel $1.1 billion in student debt for thousands of borrowers. Who qualifies? The Biden administration has now canceled student debt for more than half a million borrowers, and, after extending the freeze on student loans until January, Biden is reviewing his legal authority to forgive student debt through executive action. Many in Congress and the college community are calling on Biden to use his executive power to cancel at least $50,000 for each student in debt. A top leader of Latino colleges gives his perspective and discusses the back-to-school plans amid Covid concerns.

Guests: Antonio Flores, Executive Director, Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities – HACU, San Antonio, TX.
