This week marks the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, when Martin Luther King, Jr. made history with his “I Have a Dream” speech. At the anniversary event in Washington, D.C., immigration reform is one of the headlining calls to action. Today is also the anniversary of the Chicano Moratorium, the mass peace protest in East Los Angeles that sparked violent police attacks that killed journalist Ruben Salazar and two others. Activists from past and present join this edition to discuss the significance of these anniversaries and to share efforts to commemorate the heroes of Chicano civil rights movement, including an event planned in Fresno, California called “Chicano History Revisited in Fresno County.”
