PROGRAM # 9704 11:00 AM PT
Extra Edition: Dealing with Back-to-School Blues. As children across the US prepare to return to school, they may be feeling insecure, anxious or overwhelmed. Stress of the pandemic and fears related to school safety exacerbate those feelings. Children of color have an additional burden: systemic racism, which can lead to chronic stress, anxiety, and depression. What can parents do? Advocates are launching a national campaign called “Sound It Out,” to use the power of music to support middle-school kids’ emotional wellbeing.
Guest: Dr. Regina Miranda, Psychology Professor, Director of Laboratory for the Study of Youth Cognition and Suicide, Hunter College, New York, NY.
