Tuesday_673x324TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10
PROGRAM # 8174 12:00 PM PST.

Immigration Edition.

An analyst comments on Trump’s immigration principles that threaten to derail Dreamers legislation. An attorney gives advice for those who didn’t renew their DACA permit in time and start losing protections. Also, members of Congress talk about two bills recently introduced in the House. One is to improve access to bond hearings and conditions in the growing detention system for detained immigrants, and the other one would prevent the Trump administration from using eminent domain powers to take over lands along the border for the purpose of building the wall. Finally, California Gov. Brown signed new laws that protect immigrant families, safe-haven schools and sanctuary cities. A leading teacher comments on how these laws will help prevent immigrant student discrimination.

Guests: Teresa Montaño, Vice President, California Teachers Association – CTA, Burlingame, CA; Oscar Chacón, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Alianza Americas, Chicago, IL; Attorney Rosalba Piña, Immigration Law Expert, Chicago, IL; (Audio Segment) Marielena Hincapie, Executive Director, National Immigration Law Center, Los Angeles, CA.

Fires Still Raging. Mandatory evacuations continue in the fires that have left 15 people dead, 200 missing and more than 2,000 homes destroyed in Northern California. Areas North and East of San Francisco have been placed on red alert. A news contributor reports about the efforts to contain the fires and the situation in the disaster areas and talks about emergency plans for those living in areas of high risk.
