THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
PROGRAM # 9397 12:00 PM PDT
Family Investment Plan: Critical Hours.
President Biden has asked Congress hundreds of billions of dollars to invest in child care and paid family and medical leave. Childcare is one of the biggest expenses for families with working parents and lower-income working women stand to benefit the most from these programs. The plan, part of the budget reconciliation process, is currently facing headwinds in Congress. In this program, we hear from a mother of a two-year-old who has cancer and cares for him while working. Advocates talk about the agenda to invest in child care and early education, and the efforts to make current Child Tax Credit payments permanent.
Guests: Ivonne Limongi, Working Mother of Cancer Child Patient, Chesapeake, VA; Nina Pérez, Director, Early Childhood National Campaign, MomsRising/MamasConPoder, Miami, FL; José Santos Woss, Director for Justice Reform on National Legislation, American Friends Service Committee, Washington, DC.
