THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21
PROGRAM # 9418 12:00 PM PDT
Latina Equal Day Pay.
More than 50 years of the passage of the Equal Pay Act, Latinas typically earn only 57 cents for every dollar earned by White men. Latinas are more likely to work on frontline, low paying service jobs, and they were among the hardest hit by the pandemic and the crisis. The lost earnings due to the wage gap leave them without a financial cushion to weather the steep unemployment and the crisis. Latina mothers are also reported to experience a motherhood penalty. Women advocates share their personal experience and their efforts to impact public policy.
Guests: Claudia Tristan, Immigration Campaign Director, MomsRising, Washington, DC; Mónica Ramírez, Founder and President, Justice For Migrant Women.
