PROGRAM # 8807 12:00 PM PT

Commercial Gentrification.

Plagued with rising rents, higher costs and the flight of workers to more affordable areas, small shops and family-owned cafes in San Francisco are increasingly facing closure and displacement. To fight commercial gentrification in Latino neighborhoods, community non-profits are buying buildings and providing financial assistance to help businesses stay. In this program, restaurant owners share their stories of survival and an advocate talks about their efforts to develop affordable commercial space.

Guests: Carlos Pillado, Owner, Pane e Vino Restaurant, San Francisco, CA; Paula Tejeda Rieloss, Owner, Chile Lindo Restaurant, San Francisco, CA; Mission Economic and Development Agency, San Francisco, CA.
