PROGRAM # 9303 12:00 PM PDT
Eviction Moratorium Extended.
The Biden administration has extended the nationwide ban on evictions for a month to help tenants who are struggling to pay their rent due to the pandemic crisis. While this was announced as a final extension, lawmakers are calling for more time to allow tenants to access the billions of emergency rental assistance included in the American Rescue Plan. This program included a report on the historic state budget being signed today by California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and those items in the budget plan that may have a big impact among Latino and immigrant families.
Guest: Francisco Dueñas, Executive Director, Housing Now!, Los Angeles, CA.
The Child Tax Credit.
The American Rescue Plan brought the largest tax credit ever for children and families by raising the payment for children under six and raising the age limit from 16 to 17. Payments of the enhanced child tax credit are set to begin on July 15. Who qualifies for the payment and how to get it?
Guests: Saira Soto, Deputy Executive Director, Children’s Defense Fund-California, Los Angeles, CA; José Vargas, Public Policy Associate, United Way of California, Sacramento, CA
