COVID-19: Extra Edition.
In this extended edition, a California state legislator who is part of a high-level committee on the COVID-19 pandemic talks about her plans to dispel fear and confusion through tele-town halls in Spanish and indigenous languages, the fast-track project proposed to help protect farmworkers, and Gov. Newsom’s economic stimulus fund for the undocumented. Also, a labor lawyer and a civil rights activist talk about the explosion of coronavirus cases in the Otay Mesa detention center and the hunger strike of dozens of detained immigrants at the Mesa Verde jail in Bakersfield, demanding protection from the virus. They also discuss the lack of health care and tests in rural towns in Kern, the county where the coronavirus is growing the fastest in California’s Central Valley.
