Guest Workers Fired After Protest.

Mexican guest workers who joined a strike to protest the death of a berry picker were fired by their employer, Sarbanand Farms in Sumas, WA. The workers, who were recruited under the H2A program and were working with an expired work visa, are now camping out in a neighboring field, demanding back pay and complaining about violations to their H2A contract.

Mexican Cartoonist Rius Dies. Beloved Mexican cartoonist Eduardo del Río, “Rius,” died at age 83 in Tepoztlan, Mexico. After publishing the political-humor strips Los Supermachos and Los Agachados in the 60s, “Rius” went on to release more than one hundred books educating people on politics and the environment, and satirizing cultural traditions.
