PROGRAM # 8567 12:00 PM PT
Helping Families Help Each Other.
Contrary to prevailing myths, corporations and the rich are not the only ones that create jobs and grow the economy, and low-income families are not takers from society. The poorest neighborhoods do create jobs, but those efforts get no recognition. In order to encourage those spontaneous efforts, a group of progressive reformers has been working for years in changing stereotypes, promoting community and family mutual-help networks, fund family initiatives and micro-investments, and help spread this economic model, especially in immigrant neighborhoods. They have launched a national project titled Up Together.
Guest: Jorge Blandón, Vice President, The Family Independence Initiative, San Francisco, CA.
