PROGRAM # 9221 12:00 PM PST

California and US Relief for Immigrant Families.

California is giving relief to immigrant families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Undocumented immigrants can receive stimulus checks as long as they file taxes with Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN.) Many Californians with ITINs may also receive two tax breaks: the California Earned Income Tax Credit and the Young Child Tax Credit. A legal expert explains how to get the state and the federal relief, dispel fears about the federal “public charge” rule, which has changed, and answers listeners questions about ITIN and the delays in receiving the stimulus check.

Guest: Clarisa Reyes-Becerra, Immigration Attorney, Equal Justice Works Fellow, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation, San Francisco, CA.
