The Land of Open Graves.
A conversation with an anthropologist who tells the story of the journeys of migrants who try to cross the border facing violence, suffering, and death in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. In his book, “The Land of Open Graves,” the scholar critiques the federal border enforcement policy called “Prevention through Deterrence” for pushing migrants to the most dangerous crossing trails between Mexico and Arizona. This program also includes analysis of President Obama’s pledge to admit thousands of Syrian refugees, and the criticism by Republican governors and presidential candidates, as well as practical advice from an expert on immigration law.
