The Grammy-nominated Cuban Son group Septeto Nacional is visiting California. Currently in its fourth generation, the group traces its origins to the legendary Ignacio Piñeiro, a singer and composer whose greatest hit “Echale Salsita” is regarded as a forerunner of modern salsa. This is a conversation with a member of the group who has investigated the history of the Cuban son.
