Master Folklorist: Daniel Sheehy.
Ethnomusicologist, acclaimed music producer and virtuoso mariachero Daniel Sheehy has been awarded NEA’s 2015 National Heritage Fellowship, the nation’s highest honor in the folk and traditional arts. Sheehy is a long-time advocate for grassroots, traditional artists around the country and the hemisphere. As director and curator of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, he has won five Grammy awards, and a number of other honors.
