This is a conversation between mariachi virtuosos about the tradition and evolution of this Mexican music genre in Boyle Heights, an East Los Angeles community known for its Mariachi Plaza. This program, titled “La Rola del Dia,” is part of the series Sounds of California, a multi-year project to record and archive the local California soundscape with a focus on displacement and belonging.

Los Cojolites.
The renowned Son Jarocho group “Los Cojolites” celebrates 25 years of career with a new album. On their new album, titled “De la lluvia y el sol,”they are joined by Lila Downs, Eugenia Leon, Omar Sosa and Natalia Lafourcade. Members of the group talk about the songs featured in the album.
