PROGRAM # 7917 12:00 PM PT
Dia de los Muertos.
Mexican communities around the Northern Hemisphere gather to celebrate the Day of the Dead. Master artists from the Mexican state of Oaxaca visit California’s Central Valley bringing with them the music, dances, flower offerings, and humorous poetry that are at the center of these festivities, which are a blend of ancient indigenous and Catholic traditions. This is a conversation with the artists on how Deep Mexico’s traditions are being recreated in communities in the diaspora.
Guests: Profr. Jorge Mario Hernández Gómez, Master Folk Musician and Dancer and Calavera Poet, Author of the Books: Sigamos Danzando and Yoso Cuiya; Judith Minerva Salazar Carrasco, Master Musician, Dancer and Teacher, Fresno, CA.
