“Crossing Borders, Building Bridges.”
In her book of memories “Crossing Borders, Building Bridges,” award-winning journalist María Martin tells her story of decades in the frontlines covering Latinos in the US for public radio. In this conversation, she talks about her early days in a pioneering community radio station in California, her creation of NPR’s Latino USA, the challenges of rising as a Latina in the echelons of public radio’s newsroom, and her current work training indigenous and rural reporters in Latin America.

“Music Stories from the Cosmic Barrio.” Veteran public radio producer Betto Arcos is launching a music-themed book showcasing a collection of stories that have aired through the years on national programs in public radio. Through this book, Arcos features leading interpreters of danzon, samba, trova and other world music genres to find in their diversity the common thread provided by the universal language of music.
