STAND YOUR GROUND LAWS UNDER ATTACK.

wednesday-673x324

Florida was the first state in the nation to approve stand-your-ground laws, which allow individuals to defend themselves by force without first retreating from a dangerous situation. Critics say that in too many incidents where gun violence results in the death of Latinos or African Americans such as Trayvon Martin, shooters are shielded by these laws and remain free without justice. In addition, a Latina state senator faces a recall election over her support for stronger gun control laws in Colorado, where in 2012, a gunman killed 12 people and injured 70 others at a movie theater. These and other topics will be discussed in this program.

GUESTS: Dana Sánchez –Quist, Spokesperson, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, www.bradycampaign.org; Angela Giron, Colorado State Senator, Denver, CO,http://www.angelagiron.com/
