The Florida Republican Congress passed a law that conditions the restoration of the right to vote for former prisoners, a law approved by a large majority in the past elections. The legislation, which is expected to be signed by the Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, requires that before the vote the ex-cons pay all the fines, indemnifications and court fees that have pending. Defenders of the vote warn that the new law contravenes the will of the citizens who voted for the constitutional amendment. From Miami, Max Aub reports.
